About Our Speakers

Judi Lloyd ~ Featured Guest of 2010

will be a guest speaker.  In addition to being

President of the Scottish District Families

Association she is also on the board of COSCA

Mrs. Lloyd will be speaking on "The Development

of Support for District Tartans"  Mrs. Lloyd comes

to the Taste of Scotland after several years wait.

She is largely responsible for the increase of

knowledge of Scots-Irish mountain people, about

the tartans their ancestors wore before emigration

to the New World.  Because of her organizational

skills, a District Tartan group with their district

banners now marches at Grandfather Mountain

Scottish games and other games where only Clan

insignia was previously allowed on the field.

Mrs. Lloyd will also man a tent a the festival at

which you can ask questions about your district

affiliation.

John Moore will be speaking on "The Cherokee

Defeat during the French-Indian War"

Mr. Moore was raised on the land where the several

battles were fought.  Scottish Regiments of the

British Army marched up the Little Tennessee Valley

and were first defeated by the guerilla tactics of

the Cherokee.  Mr. Moore now owns the Spring

Ridge Dairy, south of Franklin, on this land.

For several years the museum held tours of the

Battlefield, featuring bag pipe music for atmosphere.

The jersey cows always came to listen with the

tourists.
